Burglars broke into a house in Paldi on Tuesday, making off with ₹8 lakh worth of jewelry and cash within an hour. Per TOI, the incident occurred while the homeowner, Jaimini Vyas, a 56-year-old lawyer, and her daughter were out for a quick lunch near Gujarat College in Ellisbridge.
The report added that Vyas reported to the police that she and her daughter left their house in Saurashtra Society, Fatehpura, around 1:55 pm. When they returned at 3:05 pm, they found the front lock broken and the house ransacked. Cupboards had been emptied, with ₹20,000 in cash and 21 sets of jewelry worth ₹7.93 lakh missing.
Vyas filed a burglary and criminal trespassing complaint at the Paldi police station. Authorities are now examining CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the culprits.
Per the report, the theft took place just 800 meters from the Fatehpura police chowky and amid increased police activity at Mahalakshmi Crossroads, a kilometer away, where a suicide and murder investigation was in progress.
