A delegation from De Beers, led by Feriel Zerouki, Senior Vice President of Provenance, Ethics, and Industry Relations, visited the GJEPC headquarters in Mumbai on July 9th to discuss important issues in the diamond industry.
On July 9, a De Beers delegation, including Feriel Zerouki, Senior Vice President of Provenance, Ethics, and Industry Relations, met with officials from the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) at their headquarters in Mumbai. Accompanying Zerouki were Emma Wade Smith, Global Head of Public Policy and Public Affairs, and Amit Pratihari, Managing Director of De Beers Forevermark.
They were welcomed by GJEPC representatives Vipul Shah, Chairman; Ajesh Mehta, Convener of the Diamond Panel; Saunak Parikh, Co-Convener of the Diamond Panel; Anil Virani, Member of the Diamond Panel; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director.
The discussions addressed various significant topics impacting the diamond sector, such as compliance, the movement of rough diamonds, the current geopolitical situation, regulatory challenges, and collaboration opportunities. Both sides shared their perspectives on overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities in today’s global economic landscape.
This meeting highlights the ongoing efforts of industry leaders to promote transparency, adherence to regulations, and sustainable growth in the diamond industry.
