The 10th edition of the India Rough Gemstones Sourcing Show (IRGSS) kicked off in Jaipur on August 27.
The guests are the events were Mr. Neeraj Dubey, Additional Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur, and Mr. K.M. Meena, Assistant Commissioner of Customs at the Air Cargo Complex (ACC), Jaipur, inaugurating the event.
Organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the show brings together prominent figures from the gemstone industry.
According to a report by Solitaire, Mr. Nirmal Bardiya, GJEPC’s Regional Chairman for Rajasthan, attended the inauguration, along with other key industry representatives, including Mr. B.N. Gupta, Convener of the Synthetic Stone, Sales to Foreign Tourists & Fashion Jewellery Sub-Committee, and Council Regional Committee Members Mr. Vijay Kedia and Mr. Rambabu Gupta.
The report added that this year’s show features an extensive display of rough emeralds from Kagem Mining Limited, a Zambian company and subsidiary of Gemfields. Mr. Etienne Marvillet, Assistant Director of Product & Sales at Kagem, attended the event and will be in India throughout the show.
Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, highlighted this milestone’s significance, emphasizing the IRGSS’s importance in supporting Jaipur’s coloured gemstone industry, which plays a crucial role in India’s gem and jewellery exports.
Per the report, he thanked the exhibitors for their continued participation. He noted that the show was initially launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure a steady supply of rough gemstones for Jaipur’s manufacturers.
The IRGSS, running until September 14, 2024, serves as a vital platform for industry stakeholders to connect, negotiate, and explore business opportunities.
