In Pune, an elderly couple was robbed of jewellery worth ₹ 5 lakh in broad daylight on Thursday afternoon.
As per a news report in NDTV, the incident took place as the couple, returning from the bank on their scooter, stopped at a roadside shop to eat vada pav.
Per the report, CCTV footage shows the couple parking their scooter near the food joint. The man entered the shop while his wife waited outside.
A masked man on a motorcycle approached her, pointing out that something had fallen on the road.
As she bent down to check, another man, who had been observing the area, swiftly stole a bag containing the jewellery from the scooter and fled.
The report added that the bag also contained bank documents and the couple’s mobile phone. The woman chased the thief, shouting for help, but he managed to escape.
Police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
