Two former employees of Senco Gold Limited in Dwarka, Yogesh Singh and Deepak, have been arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh by generating fake invoices in 2020.
The duo, who worked as assistant store manager and cashier, reportedly carried out the theft during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh.
Faced with financial difficulties, the two allegedly created forged invoices under the names of registered customers in June 2020 and stole the jewellery.
Senco Gold later discovered the fraud, but the accused had fled. An FIR was filed on July 30, 2020, after a complaint from the company’s Zonal Manager, Sumit Soni.
Despite evading authorities for four years by frequently changing addresses and phone numbers, the police tracked them down by monitoring call records and using informers. Yogesh was arrested first, followed by Deepak.
